Yesterday we said good-bye to Old Reliable after only 147,000 miles and 10 years of faithful service(the car was actually 15 years old). Before the Hunk could even process the papers for our new sporty SUV that little Honda van was sold…amazing. Here to model the car for you are Jake and April. Sam was hunkered down inside the back seat and refused to pose for pictures.Just once I would love to see a car commercial with a new car filled with people having a good time and several of them happened to have Down syndrome.I know there are ads that have babies with Down syndrome advertising diapers and Toys R Us uses kids with DS in their catalog but I want to see some teens and adults with DS in ads too. This sweet little ride is a 2012 Hyundai Tucson with gas mileage at 22 city and 32 open road. We took it to dinner last night and Jacob told his youth pastor that he, “screamed like a girl”, when he saw it. Sam actually kissed the car and April was all smiles because she has permanent dibs on the front seat. If you are in the market for a car go see Bobbie at Columbia Hyundai in Montgomery, Ohio. He was wonderful with the kids answering every question that they might have whether it was about the car or Justin Bieber.
The car has put us in the 21st century with Blue Tooth, Ipod/USB connection and a CD player. Old Reliable only played cassette tapes and Justin Bieber doesn’t have any songs recorded on those. Look for the white-haired woman happily driving her kids around while we all sing Baby, Baby, Baby Oh…… Now that would be a great car commercial.
