May Day

Happy May 1st.  I just learned of a lovely custom for May Day.  In France they give lily of the valley bouquets on May Day for good luck.  Since I have a large bed in bloom when the kids get home we will cut, wrap and give them to our neighbors. These little bits of lemon smelling goodness will look darling tied up with twine.  The boys may not be thrilled but I think April will be.

These are from my yard and just waiting to be transformed into this…

I wonder if it will look the same with kitchen twine?

Last night while I was driving to bowling I spotted this from my window.April and Jake love walking the 3/4 of a mile to the bowling alley.  Where is Sam you might be thinking?  Surely that precious teenager isn’t left behind.

Sam is that tiny little figure in the picture in a flat-out run.  The last thing I told him before they started walking was, “Stay with your sister and brother!!!!!”  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

After bowling it was on to dinner and the celebration of yet another birthday.  What made this unique was that we actually celebrated a birthday of one of the moms.   We have decided to go to a once a month celebration since there are over 20 in our Monday night dinner group. That’s April, Sam at the top and friend Alex getting up close and personal with the birthday girl.

Happy May Day!
