How we celebrate Veterans Day

We love to teach our kids about patriotism at every chance we get.   Someone in our family has been in the military since my grandfather served in WWI to my son who served proudly in the Marine Corps.  With that in mind we headed over to view the Flags of Honor at Historic Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum.  The 100 flags pay tribute to Veterans and Heroes of Public Service and are on display through November 16th.

April, Jake and Sam found their brother’s flag and the Hunk’s flag.
After we finished looking at the flags we did what many other families were doing.  We hiked around the cemetery and took pictures.

Before we left we went to visit the grave of our friend Scott who died while braving serving our country.  We always place a flag and contemplate his sacrifice.

How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!” – Maya Angelou
